Tonight’s Mile High Strength Club: Bodyweight TABATA/Kettlebell Press Practice

Tonight at Mile High Strength Club’s meetup is a Tabata session using our own bodyweight.  Tabata is an interval workout common in Crossfit.  We are using various movements with a 20 seconds on/10 seconds rest period repeated 8 times for each movement (4 min. work time/movement).  Find a pace that will CHALLENGE you but we don’t want to see a significant drop in reps amongst sets.  This is a quick workout but be prepared to sweat.

We will finish with kettlebell pressing practice, this is a movement that has a lot of nuances when done safely/correctly.  It is important to master the basics so we can progress faster over the next weeks & months.  We will practice the strict press, push press, and jerk.

So I just wrote the Rx for the Tababta, the weather is bitter cold so I am rewarding those who come by having some fun with the kettlebell so I threw in the Hardstyle swing.  We are doing one exercise at a time with 20 sec on/10 sec off for 8 sets before resting 1 min and moving on to next exercise.

  • Push-up
  • Kettlebell Swing
  • Air Squat
  • Jumping Jacks

This may look easy but if performed with intensity (and safe technique) you should be covered in sweat by the end.
