Mile High Kettlebell Meet and the BEST news of the day!

Great time was had by all this weekend at Colorado Kettlebell Club.  This was my first BOLT Rules meet which simply means that you can set the bell down if need be and you can also switch hands as much as you like.  This is a great way to get more folks involved and is more accessible than typical Girevoy Sport (GS) rules where you are allowed one hand switch and if you set the bell down your set is over.

The event was run very efficiently thanks to Nico, Adam, and all of the judges.  It was great seeing RKC instructor  Scott Stransky embrace kettlebell sport as he killed it on the double jerks and the always impressive Christian Goldberg lift.  Christian has beautiful technique and is one of the kindest folks I have had the privilege of meeting.  As kind as she is off the platform she is just as tenacious and laser focused when her set starts.  Check out her GS blog, the girl can WORK!

My training has been less than stellar lately so I just wanted to focus on the Single Clean & Jerk.  I used the 32kg since it was a BOLT Ruled event, I would have had a very difficult time lasting the 10 minutes with only one hand switch otherwise.  I finished with 103 reps which was good enough for CMS 1 Ranking in the IKL, was also proud of the fact that I did not have to set it down.   My goal was 83 so I was happy with my set, my feet were cramping up and seem to be my weakest link so I need have Dr. Glenn Hyman work on them in the office this week.  I suppose I also need to finally put away my minimalist shoes for the platform and pick up a pair of weightlifting shoes.

Great job for everyone who lifted and the spectators who cheered us on!

Moving on to the BEST news of the day, over three years ago I had the opportunity to donate a kidney to my father and on Sunday my folks got the results of the most recent biopsy back.  It was pristine, no signs of rejection and the blood markers were even better.  Thank you Lord for watching over and protecting my family!

If you REALLY love kettlebells or just want the chance to pick apart my form, here is the video of my set.
