Return to Denver, Podium Finish at Bighorn 50, and Motocross Update from Pro Tucker Saye

Returned home to Denver after a short but sweet trip back to the farm in Iowa.  It’s always a treat seeing the family together again, and the whole thing went by way too fast.  I took it pretty easy the whole time, I believe I had pork and all of its delicious incarnations; chops, pulled, bacon, etc. at every meal.  I did get in one nasty little workout, filmed a set also, but the wind never got below 30MPH so I decided to junk it.  Here it is, an old fashioned workout using just a five gallon jug of water (about 40lbs), a tractor tire, and a stretch of grass.

Warm-up: Light jog in windbreak (10 min)

Using the Five Gallon Jug of water, perform 7 push press, 7 squats with Jug on LEFT shoulder, 7 push presses, 7 squats with Jug on RIGHT shoulder.  Around the World Plyometric jumps with tractor tire, followed with 50 yard sprint.  WALK BACK.  Repeat 7 times.  Collapse on grass, eat more pork.

This past weekend, Kyle Pietari, one of my sponsored ultrarunners and friend ran the BIGHORN 50 MILER and dominated with a very strong 3rd place, only a few runners in the history of the race have finished under 8 hours for the 50, and this year had the top three sub 8 hours.  Well done Kyle!  Here is a quick summary of his race, “ I ran in the Merrell Bare Access, a zero-tread, lightweight, minimal road shoe.  I took 6 spills on rocks, which led to bleeding in 10 different places.  I consumed about 2000 calories worth of gels, drank about 75 ounces of HEED electrolyte beverage, about 100 ounces of water, and took about 12 S-caps.  Time was 7:57:07.”

Another of our office’s sponsored athletes, Pro Motocross racer Tucker Saye finished episode six of their video series, DRIVEN TO RIDE.  Amazing quality and very cool.  Below is the video (there is even a cameo of a certain Denver ART chiropractor)
