Big Sky Duathlon, EURO CUP 2012, & High Rep Snatches

Misc 084

Keri with great form during  her 300 8kg snatches

This morning Keri (our office manager & awesome girlfriend) and I had the oppurtunity to treat athletes at the Big Sky Duathlon in Bennett, CO.  Our tent was adjacent to the finish line and its always a blast seeing the RAW emotion on the finisher’s faces.  For a few of the athletes, this race is only a precursor for larger triathlons later in the season with hope of earning their spot in Kona this fall, and for others this was their first race EVER.  Such diversity in experience is great to see at these events, and all the support is contagious!

When the major football (soccer) tourneys roll around its always a special time.  Euro Cup is one of the very great events in all of sport, and while the first day in most of these tournaments can be lackluster, last nights games were superb!  The sir in the Poland v Greece was out of his mind with the BS penalties, but was still a top notch game.  Russia ripped apart Czech Republic’s defense and the Czechs’ were lucky the score was only 4-1.  The brackets all have something special and I will be in hog heaven for the next three weeks (with the Olympics to follow)!

Today’s workout was fairly easy so we really dialed in the form and took our time with it:

Joint Mobility/Dynamic Warm-up

  1. 32kg KB Military Press (Strict) 10×1/arm
  2. 32kg KB Front Squat 10×3
  3. 16kg KB GS Snatch 100 reps /switch hands every 10
  4. 12kg KB GS Snatch 100 reps/switch hands every 10

Static Stretch/cool down

Fundy Bay, on the bucket list
